I am a very proud ex-pupil of St Damian's and I want to give something back to the school. My aim as Chair is to work alongside the Headteacher to ensure that the pupils achieve their full potential. I have worked in a variety of management roles in Financial Services and Banking for over 25 years and my current role is within HR. This experience has enabled me to be an active member of the Finance committee and the Headteachers performance management committee.

I have been working at St Damian’s since 2006 and I was appointed Headteacher in 2011. I am proud to be the Headteacher of such a strong, caring catholic community where students are at its heart and thrive. To lead such a dedicated staff, who ensure that our great students receive a world class education, is an honour and privilege. The staff at St Damian’s are exceptional and they all go the ‘extra mile’ to make St Damian’s a special place. All stakeholders: students, staff, parents and governors are committed to our simple vision, which is to be an ‘outstanding catholic community in all that we do’! We realise that vision every day through our actions and our outcomes.

I currently work for NHS Pennine Care Foundation which is a specialist Mental Health Trust. This allows me to use my job role experience when supporting the school as my Link role of Safeguarding. I also support the Finance Committee.

I am extremely pleased to be a governor at St Damian’s as I have been involved with the school for a number of years. Two of my children attended St Damian’s and I served on the Board of Governors as a Foundation Governor in the past. I worked as a Teacher Trainer at a private language school where we trained teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, both at pre-service and in-service levels. I was involved in the running of the EFL teacher training department and the safeguarding and pastoral care of our trainee teachers for a number of years. I currently provide consultancy service for various organisations involved with teacher training for teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages. These roles have equipped me with transferable skills that can be of great benefit to education in the state sector too, both at primary and secondary level and I am fully committed to supporting all aspects of school life at St Damian’s.

As a Foundation Governor at St Damian's I bring over 20 years experience working in education and local government with a passion for safeguarding, staff and pupil wellbeing and employee development. In my current role I provide guidance and training to Headteachers and Senior Leaders around safeguarding concerns, safer recruitment and general human resources management.
As a St Damian’s alumni and Mum to a current student at the school, I am honoured to hold a Foundation Governor Role. I am passionate about breaking down barriers to education and ensuring that children receive the best support possible to allow them to reach their full potential. I also hold a position on The Manchester Football Association’s Safeguarding Strategy Group. I feel my experience allows me to reflect a full view of the education landscape from Early Years through to Further Education and beyond.

I have over 15 years’ experience of leading the business services at St Damian’s, and on the Governing Board, I am a member of the Finance and Staffing Committee, and Premises, Health & Safety Committee. I am a very keen supporter of our school community fundraising events, having completed in the Manchester 10k and other events to raise money for charity, which is something I really enjoy. I am passionate about being part of a team that continues to deliver high standards and outcomes for all our pupils. Along with the guidance and support of our school governors, St Damian’s staff work extremely hard to create a safe and inspiring environment for everyone. I am grateful for the opportunity to play an active role in supporting all St Damian’s does in delivering the very best for our pupils.

I am a parent governor with a son in year 8. I work as a transport manager for DHL and I am also a Customer committee board member for a local housing association. A role I hold within my day Job is a member of the DHL Goteach foundation team where we link with local schools to offer CV and interview workshops. I know first-hand how hard it is for a child to not reach their full potential without the correct support network behind them. I am hoping that my vast knowledge and life skills I have gained can have some valued input into shaping the future of our children.
