St. Damian’s is extremely proud of the large numbers of pupils who choose to take on pupil leadership roles. These pupils are outstanding role models who exemplify the true meaning of stewardship and demonstrate strong levels of commitment and engagement with various aspects of St. Damian’s school community

Leadership Skills

Pupil leadership roles at St. Damian’s first and foremost shape pupils’ personal character development. Pupil leaders embrace challenges, responsibility and accountability and a number aspire to become future leaders in later life. They develop into confident and articulate leaders who are empowered to make a difference and have a strong positive impact on the whole school community. Pupil leaders develop a full range of skills:

Pupil leaders embody St. Damian’s core values and are trustworthy, honest and well-mannered. They show respect for others at all times. They accrue a number of skills that are highly valued in the workplace such as decision-making, problem solving and being able to reflect and evaluate.

Roles and Responsibilities

Pupil leadership roles in St. Damian’s school community pro-actively build pupils’ self-esteem and resilience. There are a variety of ways in which pupils can take on pupil leadership roles and expand their talents and interests. Opportunities are open to pupils of all ages and abilities.

Plan, lead and run fundraising and charity events

Lead pastoral themes and the day-to-day organisation of form time

Development & implement projects to increase environmental awareness & sustainability

Lead anti-bullying initiatives and offer support and advice to their peers

Plan, organise and shape the liturgical life of the school

Inspire, lead, create and deliver STEM activities and events in school

Lead, support & develop literacy initiatives for younger pupils

Plan, lead and implement sport and health-related exercise

Plan, lead and deliver specific school events and assist with specific duties

Plan and deliver language-related activities and promote languages within the school
